IPASS Certified Payroll Technician

 

Introduction

 

The Irish Payroll Association, the professional body for training, development and supporting the payroll function, runs this course. On successful completion, participants graduate as Certified Payroll Technicians.

 

Who is the Programme for?

 

This course is primarily aimed at those working in payroll though each year several beginners successfully complete the course. This course provides all the practical and essential information which students need to assist them in their work in a payroll environment. All course material needed is provided and there are plenty of working examples used throughout the course.

 

Graduates will be entitled to use the designatory letters AIPA (Associate of the Irish Payroll Association).

· Operation and Calculation of PAYE

· Personal Taxation

· The Pay Related Social Insurance (PRSI) System

· Pay for Tax Purposes

· Cessations and Form P45

· Employer's Duties

 

Stage II

Part I- Employment Law

· National Minimum Wage Act 2000

· Maternity Protection Acts 1994 and 2004

· Adoptive Leave Act 1995

· Parental Leave Act 1998 (Including Force Majeure Leave)

· Juries Act 1976

· Carer's Leave Act 2001

 

Part II - PAYE & PRSI

· The Tax Credit System

· Personal Taxation

· Employee Social Welfare Entitlements.

· Pensions

· Treatment of Expenses

· PRSI and Health Levy Payments

· Benefits in Kind

· Termination Payments

· Revenue Audits

· Revenue OnLine Service

 

Entry Requirements

 

This programme is designed to appeal to those already working. Entry will be considered on the applicant's individual merits and experience.

1 year part-time

Every Thursday evening (7—9 .30 pm)

Project-based assessment

70 % Minimum attendance
