Student Quotes

For the past ten years, I have been actively seeking to enter third level education as a mature student. The biggest problem I found was that all of the third level institutions were located between 45-60 miles travelling distance from my home. As a parent of young children coupled with the fact that I work part-time, these were not viable options.

I can work around my children and their school times while also keeping my part-time job. This course has given me a complete new perspective on how I learn and ability to retain and discuss information given in lectures. The small class size means that all of the students have bonded well as a class and this has also aided the learning process.

As someone in their 40’s, I never thought I would see the day when I could get a third level qualification in my local area. It would have been impossible for me to travel to IT Sligo every day as I am a farmer by profession and I also work part-time in MBNA.

The course in Boyle offers me the opportunity to get a third level qualification, something that I was unable to do when I left school. I am enjoying the challenges the course presents and use this second chance as a way to realise my full potential. Partaking in this course has opened new opportunities for me, while giving me a sense of self-worth and confidence.
